چکیده
D uodenocolic fistula (DCF) is a very rare entity characterized by fistulous communication between duodenum and transverse colon; DCF owing to metastatic lymph nodes is even rarer. Intractable explosive diarrhea is the most consistent and troublesome symptom in DCF. Treatment is mostly palliative. We present the case of a patient with malignant DCF owing to lymph node metastasis from carcinoma of the rectum. This patient’s diarrhea was successfully controlled with octreotide. We believe that this is the first reported case of malignant DCF arising due to metastatic lymph nodes and successfully palliated by octreotide.

Benign duodenocolic fistula as a complication of peptic ulcer disease
A 44-year-old man with upper abdominal pain, diarrhea and 25 kg weight loss since 3 months ago was admitted. He had a history of dyspepsia and peptic ulcer disease 4 months before admission. Gastroduodenal endoscopy and upper gastrointestinal series with barium study were done. Biopsies and CT-scan ruled out malignancies. Endoscopy and radiology studies revealed a duodenocolic fistula. He under...
متن کاملDuodenocolic fistula caused by a peptic stomal ulcer following distal gastrectomy.
We herein describe the case of a 51-year-old man with a duodenocolic fistula (DCF) caused by a stomal ulcer. The patient complained of watery diarrhea, dysgeusia and malnutrition. His medical history included distal gastrectomy with Billroth I reconstruction for duodenal ulcer perforation. A combination study using endoscopy and contrast imaging confirmed the presence of DCF. Laparotomic fistul...

متن کاملIleal conduit for reconstruction of the duodenum following right hemicolectomy and pancreaticoduodenectomy for malignant duodenocolic fistula.
We describe a case of malignant duodenocolic fistula in which after a radical resection of right hemicolectomy and pancreaticoduodenectomy, the duodenal defect was reconstructed using a conduit of transposed ileum. This technique, not previously described, offers an alternative to 'duodenal patching', which allows only limited duodenal resection, or gastroenterostomy with its attendant side-eff...
متن کاملSuccessful Palliation of a Malignant Cologastric Fistula with a Covered Self-Expanding Metal Stent
When patients present with malignant cologastric fistulas, the tumor stage is often advanced and management is only palliative. We report the case of a 75-year-old man with a symptomatic cologastric fistula arising from an advanced tumor in the transverse colon, previously stented owing to malignant obstruction. An 8-cm-long covered self-expanding metal stent (COMVI enteral colonic stent; Taewo...
